Our Mission

The mission of the North Alabama Identity Theft Task Force is to develop a cooperative effort among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies charged with the investigation and prosecution of identity theft and related offenses, to include bank fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, and embezzlement schemes by means of forgery, committed within the Northern District of Alabama.

Meetings are held at the local U.S. Postal Inspection Service Domicile on Thursdays at 100 Corporate Parkway, Birmingham, Alabama, 35242, Suite 375, at 9:00 am. The location is off of Hwy 280.

Did you know? Mail theft accounts for less than 4% of all identity theft cases. That means 96% of identity theft cases start through some other avenue.

ABOUT THE TASK FORCE

In 2007, the North Alabama Identity Theft Task Force was formed to develop a cooperative effort with various federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, to address the growing problem of financial fraud and identity theft crimes.

The North Alabama Identity Theft Task Force has been charged with the investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses involving advance fee and split-deposit schemes, counterfeit checks, internet fraud, stolen government checks, identity thefts and identity take-overs placing an emphasis on organized activity. The task force is committed to aggressively investigating and prosecuting offenders, of these financial crimes, in state and federal courts.

This website is designed to assist and educate you in dealing with the complexity of financial frauds and identity theft crimes.
