1) The North Alabama Identity Theft Task Force requests that you initially file a police report in either the jurisdiction where you reside or the jurisdiction where the fraudulent activity occurred. ***Also, if your complaint involves theft of U.S. Mail or a Postal false change of address, CLICK HERE to file a report with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

2) The Task Force primarily investigates fraudulent activity taking place within Northern Alabama. If your complaint concerns fraudulent activity outside of the Richmond Metropolitan area, please contact a local, state, or federal law enforcement agency where the activity has occurred.

The North Alabama Identity Theft Task Force is one of many law enforcement organizations investigating criminal misconduct involving financial fraud and identity theft within Northern Alabama. Because of jurisdictional issues or specifics regarding certain types of crime, your complaint may be referred to another law enforcement or regulatory agency after it is reviewed by the task force.

In addition to filing a complaint to the task force, you may wish to file an ID Theft complaint with these agencies as well.
